A lil history of Buddy Jr & the Flying 11

Highlights: Eighteen year old Buddy Isles, Jr, Flying Number 11JR, has been racing first Pure Stock V8 and now Super Street V8 at dirt tracks throughout Eastern North Carolina since 2005. His short term dream is to move to Late Model V8 while pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering next year at Wake Community College. His long-term commitment is to be competitive on track (dirt and/or asphalt), in the garage, and in the overall business of racing throughout his career. Attended Hedgecock Racing Academy in 2009 for fabrication and welding.

Background: The son of Buddy Isles, Senior and Pam Poythress, Buddy began in racing while still in the womb as his mother cheered his dad on at the dirt track. Buddy grew up both at the track and in his father’s race team garage, learning racing from the ground up. He has been exposed to many of the aspects of racing from pit crew to mechanic and now driver of Pure Stock V8 and Super Street V8 dirt track race cars.

Home Track History:

2005 Racing Pure Stock V8. - Worked on the basics in dirt track racing in Pure Stock V8 Class at Brinkleyville Speedway (now Clary’s). - Won the 3rd race ran.

2006 Racing Pure Stock V8. - Won 13 races and Wayne County Speedway Points champion. - Expanded to multiple tracks in Eastern NC 2007 Pure Stock V8 with 14 wins. - Expanded into Super Street V8 at end of season - Ran over 60 races in 2 years and 6 different tracks in North Carolina.

2008 Super Street V8 - Raced at the new Hammerdown Speedway winning all 4 races with one DNF. - Won 13 races at Clarys Speedway(www.clarysspeedway.com) in the SS Class and finished 2nd to Steve Bigley of Ohio at the Brickdirt Nationals. - Working with established Super Late Model drivers to meet the goal of moving up in dirt competition. - Raced Late Model for the first time. Numerous top 5’s and 1 wins to end out the season.

2009 Limited Late and Super Street V8 - Went out to farther tracks including Potomac Speedway & had a front running car but DNF. - Dominated the competition Clary’s Speedway for 4 races with 1 DNF before they closed for the remainder on the year.
